A dream of any travel blogger, or arguably anybody, is to travel the world. To see the sights that have captivated their dreams, to discover new and exciting cultures and, of course, to sample new food! As you may have realised, I’ve been rather busy lately (due to work), and can’t help but drift off thinking of places to visit. I thought a neat idea would be to explore a few places I’ve always wanted to visit in one go, and plan for an ‘around the world’ trip that would take place over the Spring school holiday. I thought that this would allow me to enjoy decent weather round the world, without having to alternate between the extremes of summer and winter. So, without further ado, here is my (very rough) plan for Around the World in 14 Days!
***
Stop 1: Cape Town
My boyfriend and I have always spoken about going on a safari and visiting South Africa. Here, not only can you go on an epic safari, but you can also go cage diving with Great White Sharks, and enjoy incredible landscapes that only the coast of South Africa can offer. Whilst on safari, I would love to see some wild elephants, giraffes, lions… The list goes on! As well as these epic animals, penguins regularly appear along the soft white sand of the coast, and who doesn’t love them?? I would spend a good three full days here, with one day dedicated to the safari, another for exploring the coast, and one for exploring the city itself.
Stop 2: The Maldives
From one tropical paradise to another. I would love to spend a couple of days just relaxing in the crystal-clear waters of the Indian Ocean. My boyfriend took me scuba-diving a few years back, and I would love to repeat the experience in arguably one of the best places to do it. After a hard years work, drinking exotic cocktails whilst basking in the Indian sun would definitely hit the spot. Do I even need to say what I’d do on both days??
Stop 3: Vietnam
A country that unfortunately most people associate with the infamous conflict, Vietnam is without doubt one of the most beautiful places on earth. I would love to explore the wonders of Ha Long Bay, taking a boat out into the turquoise waters and exploring the multitude of different caves. I of course would then visit the Capital City; Hanoi. Here there would be so much culture to immerse myself in, as well as the deep history of the region. If I could explore an entire country for the full 14 days, it would be Vietnam for sure!
Stop 4: Sydney
Our next stop would, of course, be Australia and our first pit-stop – Sydney. I thought that spending 3 days here should be enough to explore the city and see the sights, go for some incredibly beautiful and romantic walks along the picturesque coastline, and finally a trip up north to dive/snorkel on the Great Barrier Reef to find Nemo. I think that Sydney is definitely a bucketlist location for me, and spending time there (no matter how little) would be incredible!
Stop 5: Hawaii
En-route to North America, it would be rude not to say ‘Aloha!’ to the picturesque islands of Hawaii. When we went to San Francisco earlier this year, we spoke to a lady who was on her way to Hawaii, and I remember feeling super jealous, despite the fact we were off on our own amazing adventure. I would love to maybe try my hand at a surfing lesson, and experience some of the rich culture that comes with these islands. Is it bad I’m getting excited already about the prospect of the photos I could take??
Stop 6: Toronto
Canada just has to go on this list, and where better to start in Canada than Toronto? This city is the capital city, and is great to use as a base to see the surrounding countryside. It also is a great excuse to pig out on maple-syrup biscuits, because they are just fantastic!
Stop 7: New York
Although I have been a few times, Jack has always wanted to visit the city that never sleeps. I thought a perfect end to the trip would be to show him around, stay in a super-fancy hotel, and enjoy all the things this city has to offer. As we’re both massive foodies, I thought we could sample all the great (and super unhealthy, but who cares) food that New York can provide. Needless to say, it would be the perfect end, to a perfect trip.
