One of the best things about blogging is connecting with you lovely people from all across the world, many of whom I’m sure are basking in glorious warm sunshine enjoying the early summer months. That’s certainly not the case here in the UK where Autumn is well and truly in full swing. The leaves have turned, a golden mixture of yellows and browns, and are slowly falling to the ground leaving bare branches on show; the mornings are getting darker, the days shorter and the air colder.
We’ve had (more than) our fair share of grey and rainy days over the past couple of weeks so when a gorgeous sun-filled forecast was guaranteed for my day off, I was determined to use it wisely. After wrapping ourselves up nice and warm and throwing our wellies in the back of my boyfriend’s car, we set off on a bit of a road trip, bound for Batsford Arboretum in the heart of the Cotswolds.

The arboretum-come-botanical garden is situated in Gloucestershire, just a few miles north-west of the Cotswold town of Moreton-in-Marsh. With a collection of nearly three thousand trees, including Japanese maples, magnolias and pines, Batsford Arboretum is the home to the UK’s largest private tree and shrub collection.
We were crossing our fingers that we were not too early to witness the display of autumn colours and thankfully we were not disappointed! From amber to orange and burgundy red to buttery yellow, the arboretum was absolutely ablaze with brilliant hues.
After strolling around the grounds for a couple of hours, frolicking in the leaves and exploring the garden’s oriental corners, it was no surprise that our stomachs demanded some attention. It was therefore, with little hesitation and no complaints that we set off to the Garden Terrace Café for a slice of cake and a refreshing drink.

Batsford Arboretum had certainly provided us with a quintessential Autumn day, made even better by the backdrop of a crisp, clear blue sky, and I would highly recommend paying the arboretum a visit if you find yourselves close by!
