With just a few days to go before I hop aboard an eleven hour flight across the Altantic and across America to its west coast, I thought it would be a good time to share a post with you on what I’m looking forward to most. If you haven’t been keeping up to date with my travel plans, I’m about to spend the next two weeks visiting San Francisco, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, San Diego and the one and only city of angels, Los Angeles!
It’s going to be a pretty epic adventure, if I may say so myself, and I’m so excited to visit so many iconic America sights and bucket list locations. Without further ado, here is my list!

1. Watching the sun set over the Grand Canyon
Visiting the Grand Canyon has been on my bucket list for years and I am so excited to be heading there on our trip. We’ve booked a day tour from Las Vegas with Grand Adventures, which has been recommended to us multiple times, and not only will we be visiting the Canyon’s West Rim but we’ll also be stopping at the Hoover Dam and making a stop along Route 66. I can’t wait!
2. Experiencing a night in Vegas
I’m certainly not a party animal but I feel it would be rude to miss out on what Vegas has to offer when the sun goes down! We’re up early the next morning for our Grand Canyon Tour but there are a few things in Vegas we don’t want to miss – the dancing fountains of the Bellagio and of course, we’re going to have to place a bet in one of the many casinos!
3. Riding the historic San Francisco cable cars
One of the first things I intend to do in San Francisco is hop aboard one of their historic (and beautiful) cable cars. I’ve heard that a ride on the outside step is a must!
4. Visiting the island of Alcatraz
Another bucket list experience for me is a trip across to the infamous island of Alcatraz in San Francisco Bay. Our tickets are booked already as we were told to book up early, and we are looking forward to exploring the small island and learning about its fascinating history.
5. Seeing a Redwood
During our stay in San Francisco, we are planning on visiting Muir Woods, home to a forest of redwoods. Whilst they aren’t the giant redwood/ sequoia of the Sierra Nevada, they are related, and can still grow to a height of 79m! Definitely taller than any tree I’ve ever seen.
6. Celebrity spotting in Hollywood
This is one of many things I’m excited for in LA – although I’m not convinced I would even recognise that many celebs! Should I miss them, at least I can still enjoy the surroundings.
7. Having a burger at In-N-Out
Any trip to California is not complete without a visit to the burger chain In-N-Out. So many of you have told me I simply have to visit – just need to decide what to order..
8. Visiting San Diego Zoo – one of the best in the world
Arguably the most famous zoo in the world, San Diego Zoo is famed for having incredible zoological attractions. Some of the animals I can’t wait to see are the pandas, polar bears and cheetahs. I’ve never seen any of these, and would absolutely love to do so. One day hopefully I’ll be able to see them in the wild!!
9. Walking along a Californian beach
In my opinion, Californian beaches are some of the most dreamy in the world. I can’t wait to sink my toes into the sand and dip my feet into the waters of the Pacific Ocean
10. Going whale watching and seeing the local sea lions, ofc.
Who doesn’t like whales? Off the coast of California is one of the best Cetacean – hotspots in the world. One potential site is the largest animal ever to live on the planet; the Blue Whale. Seeing one of these would be hard to beat, and I’ll be crossing everything when we go on the boat!
