At one point this month I thought July was never going to end! As a teacher, mid July means breaking up for the summer holidays, but the few weeks before seem to go on forever. The past four weeks haven’t been too busy outside of work as we’ve had plenty to do in our cottage, trying to make it feel homely and doing odds bits of DIY and paint jobs. Plus the sweltering weather that graced the UK during July made any active task quite unappealing! Anyway, before I ramble on any further, I’ll bring the intro to a close.. if you want to hear more about what I got up to this month, read on for my life update!

Henley Regatta
No British summertime in the south of England is complete without at least an afternoon spent wandering around the pretty Oxfordshire town of Henley-on-Thames. Whilst neither Jack nor I spent time watching the actual rowing this year, we did decide to make a quick stop in Henley one Sunday afternoon on our way to a family BBQ for a stroll along the river. It is always quite a sight to see the multitude of colourful blazers, fancy hats and elegant dresses that brighten up the town and riverside during the first two weeks of July!
Schools out for Summer!
July 19th was a date circled on my calendar since September last year as it marked 6 weeks of freedom and the summer holidays. I love my job, but I think I love holidays more!
A Trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park
Last week Jack and I hopped in the car and drove the 50 or so miles to Burford, home of the wonderful Cotswold Wildlife Park. Both of us enjoyed many a school trip here when we were in Primary School so as well as a day spent seeing the various animals, it acted as a bit of a trip down memory lane. A definite highlight for me were the Penguins and seeing a little Zebra. Keep your eyes peeled for a blog post coming soon!

In Case You Missed Them..
At the start of the month I shared my quick guide to San Francisco, the first of my city guides from our recent trip to the States. I then shared the third and final part of my 3 counties series with A Trip to the 3 Counties | Part 3: Exploring Worcestershire and the final post of July was my guide on how to take a good photo at the Grand Canyon which features some of my favourite pictures ever!
