It’s that time of the month again where I sit down and reflect on what I’ve been up to. Despite spending the month at home with no overseas travel or weekends away, I have managed to keep busy and have made up for the lack of jet-setting with plenty of day trips around my local area. Without further ado, let me tell you all about my May in my most recent life update!

Winchester
As a student of the University of Southampton, I used to regularly escape the city for the cuter and much more atmospheric city of Winchester, just 20minutes up the railway line. Having visited plenty of times I thought that I knew the city rather well but a trip to Winchester with my parents (after they had watched a TV programme about the history of the city) showed that there were so many sights I had not discovered. Keep your eyes peeled for a post on my trip to the city coming very soon!
The Slaughters
Rewinding backwards to the Bank Holiday weekend at the beginning of the month, Jack and I made a rather impromptu visit to The Slaughters villages in the Cotswolds. We had actually planned to visit the Cotswold Wildlife Park but after waiting in a line of traffic for over 45minutes and not moving very far, we abandoned that idea and spend the day touring some of the pretty nearby villages. I could think of worse back-up plans!
Wallingford
Another of the sunny weekend days in May began in the quaint Oxfordshire market town of Wallingford. It’s hard to imagine nowadays, but Wallingford was once one of the most important towns in the UK with its royal castle serving as a regular royal residence until the Black Death hit the town badly in 1349. We didn’t spend long in the town itself as the purpose of our visit was to enjoy a walk along the Thames in the direction of Shillingford. The path was about 2.5 miles to Shillingford Bridge where we made a U-turn and returned in the direction of the town making a stop at the Waterfront Café in Benson.
Buscot Park
Sadly the second May Bank Holiday was not quite as sunny as the first, but nevertheless my family were determined to make the most of it and so hopped in the car bound for National Trust property, Buscot Park. Located just outside of Faringdon in Oxfordshire, the grand house is set within a large park of over 100 acres and contains woodland, lakes and formal gardens.
Summer 2018
Finally, May has seen some of my plans for the summer fall into place. Whilst I’m not going to give away the details of my trip just yet, I am excited to continue planning and will announce the itinerary very soon. Watch this space!

In Case You Missed Them..
At the beginning of the month I published my first post from my trip to the 3 Counties which features the beautiful county of Gloucestershire, an area of the UK where I spent a lot of my childhood visiting my granny. My next post took me back to San Francisco and our morning at the wonderful Aquarium of the Bay where we spent a good hour or so marvelling at the stunning marine creatures of the city’s surrounding waters. I also managed to sit down and write about our stay at the Orchard Hotel San Francisco – somewhere I would definitely go back to if I returned to the city!
