It’s no secret that New York is one of my favourite cities of all time. Just like thousands of others, I have been mesmerised by ‘the city that never sleeps’; its bright lights, the constant buzz and the sense of hope that you just can’t escape from in the concrete jungle.
I’ve now been lucky enough to visit New York twice – the first time for my 21st birthday back 2013 and the second back in March 2016. Whilst I have been able to tick off many of my must-sees there are still plenty of things on my NYC Bucketlist..

Hey Victoria! I just stumbled across your blog and love it! I am 23 and have also been doing my fair share of traveling the world. Your tips are spot on and your photos beautiful.
New York is always a city that will lay close to my heart, since I lived there for a few years while completing my undergrad. For a first-time trip to the city your list is great! The one thing I do have to speak up about is Little Italy, however.
Both short term and long term inhabitants alike usually will vouch for one thing: don’t eat in Little Italy. It’s extremely overpriced and the quality is mediocre (at best). Chinatown has expanded so much through the years that it’s actually begun eating up Little Italy’s real-estate. The 3 or so blocks remaining are usually only packed with ill-informed tourists and are no longer home to ethnic Italian families. No Italian Mama’s? No good pasta.
You will find amazing pizza at any dollar pizza stand (especially in the Lower East/West sides) along with Juliana’s Pizza in Brooklyn Bridge Park or even Artichoke pizza. In NYC pizza is like religion. There are several types of pizza’s all with their own styles of crust, cheese, price, toppings and loyal following. While the goal is to worship at the alter of deliciousness, no two pizza’s are almost ever alike.
Overall, a pretty good list of New York hot spots! I’ll be sure to check out even more of your work.
Cheers 🙂
Hey Gabri,
Thank you so much for your comment – it made my day! So pleased you enjoy reading my blog – it’s always so nice to hear!
Wow, it must have been amazing to live in New York during your time at uni – I’m so jealous! You must know so many amazing places in the city that tourists have never heard of – I’ll have to pick your brain for ideas if and when I return for a 3rd time
As for Little Italy, thank you! I will definitely be changing that point on my list and replacing it with your suggestions. What a shame though that the area is no longer home to authentic Italians – I guess I’ll just have to look for the street art in the area instead!
