I can be quite difficult to please when it comes to picking a holiday – ask my boyfriend! The main problem is that I have a list of destinations as long as my arm that I would love to visit, but I can never whittle the list down and pick just one – in my defence there are just so many gorgeous places out there! I can also be reluctant to return to places I have already visited, always wanting to discover new places and experience new things.
Recently, however, some of the places at the top of my travel list are destinations that I have been to before and that have completely won me over. Today I thought I would share them with you.

Florence, Italy
Oh, Florence! – A city of history, art and culture. I visited the Tuscan capital with my parents about eight years ago and despite being only fifteen years old, I remember being wowed by the iconic sights and typical Tuscan architecture. Our visit was more of a whistle stop tour of the city as we were based outside of the city with regards our accommodation, and so the things we managed to see were limited by time.
Now I am older, better educated, more inquisitive and perhaps more interested in certain aspects of Italian culture, I would definitely like to return to Florence and revisit its world renowned sights and also do a bit of art admiration in the many galleries and museums across the city.

New York, USA
Since visiting the Big Apple back in 2013, I have been aching to return. It is safe to say that I have fallen in love with New York – the bright lights, the colossal high rise buildings and its exciting cosmopolitan atmosphere. Despite only having had a few days to see the main sights, we, my boyfriend and me, managed to tick a number of attractions off the list but there are still so many things left to see and do which would make a return trip more than worthwhile! I would love to spend a little more time exploring the different neighbourhoods, spending more time across in Brooklyn and Williamsburg, as well as paying a few of the museums a visit.
Mauritius
My first trip outside of Europe took me to the exotic island of Mauritius, situated in the Indian Ocean, about two thousand kilometres off the coast of south-eastern Africa. Having only ever flown to Germany and back with a journey time of approx. 1.5 hours, the 12 hour flight from London to Mauritius was certainly an adventure for me! My nose was permanently stuck to the window, looking at the stunning views beneath, although I must admit I was rather relieved when we touched down in our destination.
The week spent in Mauritius was incredibly relaxing and the scenery was that of dreams! During my stay, I was based on the southern side of the island in the Bluebay Marine Park area but I would definitely love to make it back one day and explore more of what the island has to offer. The Black River Gorges National Park, the capital of Port Louis, the Château de Labourdonnais and the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden in Pampelmousses (along with many more) are all on my list!
Prague, Czech Republic
My first (and only) trip to Prague was back in 2004 at the tender age of 12 at the latter end of one of my family’s InterRail holidays. My memories of the city are somewhat blurred but I do remember finding the city rather charming. I think now that I am older and wiser (or maybe just older?) I would be in a better position to fully appreciate the city and further explore the various historical sights. High upon my list of places to revisit in the city are the Castle and the Golden Lane, and having not seen or noticed them last time I would be interested in finding the Lennon Wall and wandering around the former Jewish quarter. So Prague, I’m sure we shall be meeting again!

Budapest, Hungary
Much like Prague, the last time I visited Hungary was rather a long time ago and somewhat of a short stop on our way down to Lake Balaton to visit a penfriend of mine. It seems recently that Budapest has grown in popularity as a tourist destination and the more I hear about the city from people who have travelled there, the more keen I am to return and rediscover the city for myself. I vaguely remember sights such as the Fisherman’s Bastian, Vajdahunyad Castle and the Hungarian Millennium Memorial on Hero’s Sqaure but would love to visit once again and take a dip in the relaxing waters of the Széchenyi Baths, further explore Buda Castle and Castle Hill, and perhaps also take a tour around the Hungarian Parliament Building.

Croatia
Croatia is definitely somewhere I would love to visit again having only seen a tiny part of the country on my visit to Dubrovnik. I thought the whole place was fab – from the friendly locals and the yummy food, to the gorgeous scenery and sparkling blue waters.
Whilst I would not technically be revisiting Dubrovnik (although I wouldn’t complain about this at all) there are plenty of Croatian hotspots that take my fancy; the island of Hvar, the Dalmatian city of Split and the Plitvice Lakes National Park to name just a few.

So those are the top places I would revisit in a heartbeat, now it’s time to hear your list!

Great post! I visited Florence briefly as well when I studied abroad a few years ago and I loved it! The trattorias are amazing and the family style dining in Italy is the best. I want to go back so bad!
I’m from NYC, so I’m glad you like it here lol. I’d definitely recommend you check out some neighborhoods in Brooklyn for a different feel than Manhattan. It’s much more laid back. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much! Apart from the delicious food, what was your favourite thing about Florence?
Oh yes, New York is certainly one of my favourite places and (fingers crossed!) I’ll be back to visit a friend who is working there next year. So by all means, if you have any tips on places I shouldn’t miss (including places to eat) please send them my way!! 🙂
I have a post just like this ? I have places like New York on mine too but I’d also love I return to Hong Kong and Sydney 🙂 I’m jealous you’ve been to Mauritius though! I’d love to go one day!
