The beautiful city of Vienna is one of Europe’s most picturesque and elegant capitals. Boasting a mix of classical architecture and trendy modern buildings, plenty of gorgeous cafes and quaint streets, alongside peaceful greenspaces and urban hang outs, you will not be hard pushed to find some amazing photo opportunities. Here are the most instagrammable spots in Vienna, so that you can get those perfect pictures.
The Most Instagrammable Spots in Vienna
Hofburg
The dazzling Hofburg is a must-see for any visitor to Vienna. Located in the centre of the city, the former imperial palace and home to the Hapsburgs is now the official residence of the Austrian president. If you have time be sure to venture inside to see one of the palace’s gems – the Austrian National Library and its simply stunning Prunksaal!
Demel
Although there are loads of wonderful coffee houses to sample in Vienna (and usually not enough time to visit them all) my personal favourite is Demel. This insta-worthy café is located just steps down Kohlmarkt from Hofburg Palace. The famous pastry shop and chocolaterie was established way back in 1786. It is even rumoured that Empress Sisi loved to indulge in sweet treats delivered from Demel to the Palace. If it’s good enough for an Empress then it’s definitely good enough for me! Without a doubt, one of the most instagrammable spots in Vienna.
Hundertwasserhaus
The Hundertwasserhaus must be one of the city’s most colourful buildings. Found in Vienna’s third district the building, built after the idea and concept of Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser with architect Joseph Krawina as a co-author, is actually an apartment block, but it’s whimsical design and bright colours make it oh so insta-worthy!
Hundertwasserhaus is located in the Landstraße district on the corner of Kegelgasse and Löwengasse.
Schönbrunn Palace
Another day in Vienna, another beautiful palace. The enormous 1,441-room Baroque palace is one of the most important architectural, cultural, and historical monuments in the whole of Austria so it is well worth a visit. With its vast gardens, which feature the oldest zoo in Europe, roman ruins and numerous sculpture, plus the views from the elegant Gloriette, there is plenty to see and you could quite easily while away a wonderful day here.
Belvedere Palace
The Belvedere is one of the main tourist attractions in the city of Vienna. The palace itself is magnificent, and consists of two Baroque palaces to explore. It also is set in beautiful gardens which are encaged by stunningly maintained hedgerows. The colours in the summer and spring are absolutely gorgeous, and with a red (or any bright colour) dress, you can take a stunning photo with ease.
Stephansdom
Impressive enough from ground level with the beautiful tiles that decorate the historic roof, the famous Cathedral gets even more majestic when you enter. Although cameras are prohibited inside, you can climb to the top of the church to get a truly wonderful photo showing you all of Vienna.
Naschmarkt
When in Vienna, it would be a crime not to visit the most famous market in the city. Not only can you find some funky fruit, vegetables and other fresh food from all over the world, you can also take some incredible photos with all the vibrant colours that just scream out at you. You can also buy some incredible food here too, both from the market and from the small independent shops that line the outside.
Prater
Come one, come all, and visit Vienna’s famous fun-fayre. Only, it is so much more than that. In truth, it is an incredible place to really enjoy a day out all year round. You can also get some of the best photographs in Vienna here. For example, why not take a camera on top of the ferris wheel and get a 360 view of the surrounding area? It is a place where the rustic and modern meet and compliment one another, and I would thoroughly recommend visiting for some exciting photographs.
