Time for the sequel to my post on brunch in Henley. Whilst the town has some really good options, the surrounding villages have some tasty alternatives that are away from the hustle and bustle of Henley. Many of these are also locally-run too, which makes it even better. Without further ado, here are my top places for brunch around Henley-on-Thames.
Cherry Tree Inn, Stoke Row
People who read my blog know that I recently posted a review about the Cherry Tree Inn Stoke Row and loved it. Imagine my joy when I found out that they do breakfast as well! There is a great menu and all the food is top-quality. Plus, for what they are offering, the prices are really good. I would definitely recommend this to anyone. Coppa Club Sonning
Of course, Coppa Club Sonning has to be on this list. Locally-famous for the picturesque setting it finds itself in, you can have a tasty brunch overlooking the river Thames at Sonning. The food here is good and there is a good selection on the menu. Personally, I think that you need to sit outside here to really take-in the atmosphere. It is certainly a go-to if you have guests in the mood for brunch.
H’Artisan Speciality Coffee, Wargrave
It is such a shame that this place opened up one year after we left Wargrave. Well, good in a sense as I don’t think we’d have much money left! I love this place and there are some great brunch options. It is family-run and delivers excellent brunches and coffee all-year round. Make sure that you head here early though; it gets busy very quickly!
Blue Tin Produce, Ipsden
If you are after somewhere with character in a setting that allows you to really enjoy the countryside, this is for you. As places for brunch around Henley-on-Thames go, the Blue Tin Produce is really unique. With your food you get stunning scenery and an outstanding atmosphere, all whilst supporting local. The menu is a bit more limited and mostly restricted to cakes. However, I love this place and after seeing it just once, you will too.
Ox Shed Cafe, Cholsey
If you are looking for a tasty, independent brunch at a reasonable price, this is for you. Whether it is a full-english, breakfast bap or granola bowl, you can find it here at a fraction of the price in Henley. Again, like many on this list, you are supporting a local business whilst loving their very tasty food. If you are around the Wallingford area, make sure you check them out.
The Maker Space, Nuffield
Off the main road in a renovated pub is the Maker Space. As the name suggests, you can do all sorts of creative things here, such as mosaics, sewing and cross-stitch. Once you have done that, you can enjoy a top brunch from a really wide menu. I love the warm community atmosphere here and think that this is perfect for people who want to make an event out of brunch. Alternatively, it is a great place to meet new people and make new memories.
Waterside Cafe, Benson
I was introduced to the Waterside Cafe by my husband’s grandparents; it is still their favourite place to this day! In the Summer, it is easy to see why. With gorgeous views of the river and some incredible food, you can spend a good amount of time here. The brunch and breakfast options are really good and there is a lot to choose from. It is on the pricier side than other places on this list, but is a great place to treat yourself.
